Throughout my years of working within the social media marketing field I have also been honoured to do various lectures on the subject at university level.
Guest lecturer at the student bi-weekly cafe
Inholland University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands, December 2021
At the end of the semester in December 2021 I was once again honoured to be giving a lecture on the subject of social media marketing. This time it was for graduating fourth year students at their online “bi-weekly” expert meetings. This particular lecture was the most interesting one I have given until that moment, because it was not just online, but through a virtual reality platform that imitated an auditorium and it was a whole interactive universe of the university’s campus!
This virtual reality experience was provided by GoMeet and if you are ever interested in organising an online event that is interactive, interesting and exciting – make sure to check out their website for more information.
The topic of the lecture this time around was more focused on the process of content and strategy creation with focus on content trends on social media. During the lecture I was able to take the students on a journey through my personal experience in the field and the whole process of content creation. I was able to picture the process with real-life situational examples. I outlined the DO’s and DONT’s within the process and gave a few examples of DO’s and DONT’s in content creation as well. We were able to go through some of the hottest content types and channel features at the time. And even though the time was not enough to do an actual assignment, the students were really happy with the information provided.
Expert guest lecturer at the Production Lab for second year students
Inholland University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands, April 2020
During the first lockdown in 2020, when all classes worldwide moved online, I was asked for the first time to do a guest lecture at Inholland University on the subject of Social media marketing and video production. I was honoured to be invited and excited to share my knowledge and experience with the second year students. They were in the middle of the so-called “NewB” project, where they were executing their first actual assignment. And since everything was under a lockdown, their assignment, naturally, was related to creating social media content and strategies.
As a guest lecturer, I helped and Expert Session with second year students from the Creative Business Domain on the topic of Social media marketing, Content creation and Video scripting. During the lecture, I took the students through the main process of turning an idea into a strategy and the steps one needs to take when creating social media content. I explained in details how video scripting works and outlines the different elements in the process. At the end of the lecture there were a few questions from students and some even found me on social media afterwards, simply because they wanted to talk further on the topic.
It was an unbelievable experience for me, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to help out the young professionals that might choose to work in this field someday.

Masterclasses
Inholland University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands, 2017
While working as a social media manager at Inholland University, my team and I were asked to prepare a series of masterclasses for the university’s marketing team.
The goal was to help other study programmes to develop their social media accounts, the same way that we have developed the accounts of our International programme. Since out study programme doubled the number of new students within the first year of starting with social media marketing, and then doubled it again in the second year, other programmes also wanted to popularise their courses on the Dutch market (since other programmes were offered in Dutch, and only ours was and international study thought in English).
For my team and I, it was a great honour to be able to share our experience and knowledge to success with others and help develop the university’s overall reputation further. The feedback we received was very positive and Board of Directors at Inholland University were very pleased with our efforts to build and maintain the branding of the university.
The first masterclass in the series we actually started via a Facebook live stream, just to make the presentation more interactive and in line with what we did as the social media marketing team. There was a slight delay, so if you’re interested in watching this, I’d suggest to start from 17:00 minutes onward.
The first book on Social Media Marketing
The Netherlands, 2017
As a natural development from the masterclasses we have organised, the team and I wrote our first trilogy on social media marketing. Since at the time, we were managing a Facebook page, an Instagram account and a Snapchat account (that was before stories were introduced on Instagram), we carefully crafted 3 separate books. One for each platform.
The books served as a technical manual, covering all functions of the platforms at the time. They included strategical tips and tricks of what has worked for the IMEM Inholland profiles, what hasn’t worked out. We implemented lists of DO’s and DONT’s and had attachments to the books like a content calendar template, etc.
The books however were intended for internal usage only, so unfortunately they cannot be found anywhere (nonetheless, they have outdated information, since the social media landscape has changed tremendously since then). But the experience of actually putting all our knowledge for the past couple of years into an actual product that helped and served others, was an unforgettable experience.
